River Journey

December 21, 2008 § 4 Comments

Sweet chariot, I am going home.
Walk in the shadows with me,
River Journey…
I must roam
barefoot with company.
Sweet chariot, I am going home,
passing through the gates of Rome,
to the Garden of Gethsemane,
River Journey…
In silence, lies ohm.
In this state, I am free.
Sweet chariot, I am going home.
The ocean’s foam
washes on my feet, a light debris,
River Journey…
I see a dome
above the living tree.
Sweet chariot, I am going home.
River Journey…

The Greatest Gift

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

In silence, heaven sent you.
Your voice sings to me,
dancing in my view.
I know these dances
where I take chances.
Only one song I sing,
the love you bring.

God’s Gift

December 21, 2008 § 1 Comment

Every morning, I rise to a canvas, snow-white.
A new experience awaits.
I vision a rainbow of light,
become as a little child who creates.

I am looking at art
though hands of a miracle,
to the center of my heart,
to the depths of my soul.

Taught by the Greatest Teacher,
I listen in silence…
Draw from every feature:
Perfection, Rebirth, and Innocence.

Presented a palette to paint the Prince of Peace,
I stand before the Divine’s greatest masterpiece.

The Queen Rose

December 21, 2008 § 1 Comment

In loving memory of my Oma Rosa

She holds God with one hand.
The other hand is where I stand.
Miles away, I wait for Spring.
To see you bloom and sing,
I will cross the ocean to your land.

The weeping waters dream deep.
Still you are asleep.
Please, wait for me.
Do not part to destiny;
I have something for you to keep.

Wait, wait, do not wither away.
I am swimming so fast this day.
A storm delayed my coming.
I hear heaven is humming:
The 23rd psalm faraway.

In silence, I felt a petal-
Fall before my eyes and settle.
The scent of a rose draws near.
The image of you does slowly appear,
Reflecting off a miraculous metal.

Vanished to a saving place…
Now, this world I must face.
God’s rain came and I washed ashore.
Stumbling across land still unsure…
Here is my heart with you in space.

Nellie Belly

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

This is one of my very first rhymes that I wrote called “Nellie Belly”, in honor of my daschund, a gift from my dad’s old buddy, Joe, when I was just five years old. Funny when you’re a kid, you’re a lot less serious!

Nellie Belly,
Wiggle wee wee,
How does your belly grow?
With meaty meats
And doggie treats,
That’s how my belly grows!

Nelly Belly,
Wiggle wee wee,
How do your legs grow?
So short and stout,
I have no doubt;
Soon, my legs will grow.

Nellie Belly,
Wiggle wee wee,
Do you love your family so?
I wish I could say-
I love each in the day.
Oh, I love my family so.

I am the world’s finest wiener hound.
Although, my belly may hit the ground,
I look good with my master on the street.
I am ready to go home now; I’m beat.

Almost Home

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

She stood on the side of the road-
for four long years and never did erode.
I called her Moo-Moo, the cow.
She came to be a landmark, somehow…
on my journeys home as I rode-
from college to rest for a little while.
She always brought a warm smile-
to my heart at the moment she appeared.
Ten years have long passed and disappeared;
Yet in my dreams, she glows; the last mile …

A Homerun

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

In bed by six, just like that
A.M. exhaustion, tit for tat
All night at the laundry mat
Red lipstick in his hair, scat
No more time for chit chat
Is she your friendly doormat?
Stay away from that rat
Gripping his prey, pussycat
He’s not all that
Just a heathen habitat
A cursing copycat
Of a charming aristocrat
Hey, she’s no ‘scaredy’ cat:
She’ll survive in combat-
Now, that her Savior’s up at bat

Worlds Apart

December 21, 2008 § 3 Comments

My world shattered.
My heart battered.
Pain, hate, creeping upon.
Love, need, now gone.
Harsh words, a touch of wrong.
A violent thrust, a broken song.
My love stolen in one dark day,
without a single word to say.
A frozen tear melts in my heart.
I have forgotten the day, worlds apart.

The Fly Swatter

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

Two eyes peered behind a violet.
How many people came as a threat,
looking inside its space?
Let me count till my face
turns blue.
A fly tries to survive, too.
S.W.A.T. on the thing;
Wings are nodding…
The time has stopped-
and its body dropped
to the ground.
No one heard a sound.

They panic the rest of time.
The history of mankind
Wrapped in ordinary clothing…
Here is the thing, the mind
Calls out words
Drugs, too small
I’ll be good.
I need you…Call.

He did a lot of thinking.
I refuse to be
A hater
To me
You’re in trouble
Baby
Because you went
Too far, maybe
Every once in a while,
I’ll do…whenever I moan-
I don’t want to hear it.
This is what your phone
Is all about
I’m going to set him
Straight
Look what he did on a whim
Add a little bit of compromise
Look
Who will struggle the hardest?
How we ended it shook…
Stand off…their
Solution is
They didn’t let go
Try hard not to kiss…
Tell us, crying, whatever
You do
He sounds like a
Nice guy I hope for you
He’s not a little
Sissy
In public
Making business missy
In her hands
Porcelain dolls
In her eyes, man
Men laughing, breaking balls
Thank you.
It’s the only done
Thing that bothers
One
I don’t understand
Life
I held on and didn’t
Want to let go of strife
My dream and love
I knew there was
Nothing at all
You’re fired ‘cause.
Take me to Mexico
I’ll love it there,
Curiosity
It’s getting pretty bare
Interesting, pretty
Entertaining
I’m going to fly
Its pouring…it’s raining.
Don’t ask me why…
I particularly like this guy
when I’m with him, I’m high…
So, I will try…
Not to tell this one goodbye…
It’s our time…it’s our sky.

The Heart Tattoo

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

No longer committed to that permanent memory
In my waking head

I ran to remove my desire
Eraser in my head
Painful…arduous…
I scrubbed so hard
My skin bled
A tattoo of
Romantic love and affection
And tenderness
Someone who loves me deeply
Never finished loving me
I ran throughout my home
Not fully using my heart
My life
Path
Filled with fears
Anxieties
Negative energies
Surround me

Frustrated
You’re not around…
Place to purify, shower
Remove the wool,
Safety pins cling
My boundary to a personal life
Turning inward
Remove half the hearts
Tattoo
The playful ways
Thinking
Men have crossed the boundaries
Mine
Strangers to me…
Watch me bathe in the nude
What my knowing says

Washing away old, unwanted thoughts
Feelings
Release

People dancing in smoky rooms
Fill the hallways
Prosperous opportunities to
Expand your interests

Temporary fix
Baby ness

Different from the get-go
Coming out of the wound
Now, confused and unable to think
Silent, the man who blew
Magic into my ear
Said, “I love you”

Illusion is what others think
Maybe true as I
Fill all the desires
Offers I hide…
All those looking for love
Longing
I run past

Talk, Talk

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

I do not own
The words I breathe
In sleep, I moan
A baby teath
Remember, wait
Listen to the beats
Disintegrate
Dreams. Angel greats

Enormorous size
Heavenly ties
Leaving behind
A family miss
One smile, to find
Familiar kiss
Rising fast, tears
Vanishing sand

Young forever, mirrors
A face of glass
Broken, sweet mass
Of heaven, earth
Communicate
Death, given birth
To one life, late
One night, talking

Ladies Night

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

The crowds of men
are parting waves.
Beneath the earth
come the dancers.
A voice rings-
Silence.
One marches
through the crowd
between the present and the past.
A pillar stands…
He is beautiful-
The stranger freezes,
blinded by smoke;
His limbs are stiff.
No escaping…
He is caught
in rhyme, in rhythm.
The notes in the sky
are shadows of his shoes.
His life is a mystery,
a never ending song…
As I follow beauty
in sync-
to thunder
near and far…

Return to Reality

December 21, 2008 § 1 Comment

“Today is the only reality” -Anonymous

The saddest word is farewell.
Here I go again, alone, unwell.
Can I love anymore? Please tell.
Look at my body upon the shore. Oh well.
A nightmare which never ends, dreams fell.
Wave upon wave, I blend into sorrow’s spell.
Broken shells, I am no bombshell.
So small and colorless, how helpless, hell-
I am just another face for show-and-tell.
Smiling in this lonely place, I have my cell.

Some say nothing ever goes right.
I try with all my might.
Flash my face in the night.
In someone’s dream a beautiful sight.
Who will hold me tight?
I do not know tonight.
I’m not quite alright…
Giving up, my last fight.

Was it all for nothing?
Do I count for something?
Can I wear your ring?
I have a lot of love to bring.
At times, I am just a thing.
Shells on the shore sing.

Sing me to sleep.
I am sinking deep.
Deeper, I have nothing to keep.
The hearts in my head weep.

I will go back, into the ocean, retreat-
Without love, I am made incomplete.

Thorns in Me

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

My stiff fingers shaped the melody-
Of my longing, my love, and my pain.
Notes and vibrant chords trembled far-
Into this night of thunder and rain.
Tomorrow I will arrange to go somewhere.
Anywhere, alone, and I must wrestle…
With my soul alone, or, if not tomorrow-
At least the day after, as soon as I nestle
Into nothing that is not true….
Far down in my dreams, drifting, shining…
Mirrored in the stars, my heart is sinking-
Under the August moon, we are dining.
The hour of us is so enchanting.
How could beauty bring only pain?
Somewhere on the well-beaten path,
I lay my heartache down in vain.
My pride once sustained me.
Is beginning to fail me now
What is my one excuse?
Troublesome question, “How?”
How did our tension increase?
If only I could forget, the breaking point…
Blindness of my lover did not last.
My roses drop their petals, no longer joint.
Drawing in deep breathes, my heart is free.
A stranger enters the gates in hopes to-be
Listening to the music, hours wrong, off-key.
My piano and I hum, “what’s wrong with me?”
The sound of my heart is very faint.
I wonder where my last lover can be…
The man who watches can hear my cry.
I wake with feeling hope still left in me.

Sugar Bay

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

Hands across the bay,
nobody’s beside me today.
The sun melts in my hands
and flies into the sands.
Hunger, buried below-
the shores of letting go.
Thoughts blowing, sailing-
a hurricane is trailing
over a dune, beyond the towers.
A cross, the feeding of hours,
stands on a red hill.
I’ve come to see my will.
Looking into my eyes,
Heaven knows no goodbyes.
Let my writing blow away…
when you come to Sugar Bay.

My Offering

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

This is my offering,
so simple and true—
for the One
who made me and you.
This is my story,
written in a line,
completing a circle
daily in thine-
love of color.
This I know:
I will never
let Him go
into the wind…
so far away.
He is always here
completing this day.
I offer Him my life
to mold as His will.
Here is my gift
which he does fulfill.
In a world of evermore,
I see my heart,
endless love
from the very start.

The Hurricane and The Rainbow

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

One night, my house was blown away
by a hurricane on the night I forgot to pray.
In the morning, I was lost and never me.
Searching for my place, I lost my will at sea.
What kept me from drowning—was the warmth of the sun.
I stretched out my arms to hold someone.
It was the arms of hope that helped me
and the hands of faith that made me see-
on a journey of joy and ecstasy.
Looking back at shore, I ran alongside many lovers.
Some ahead I will slowly discover:
There is no holding back today.
Love is free, free to find a way-
to set its pace and ride with destiny.
And soon, my strength of being free-
will collapse from this run
and cling onto the sun.
I’ll drop on a rainbow and lie down to die.
Look for me in the starry sky.
The colors of my heart, the vision of a rainbow…
My love remains forever, even as I go.

The Torch

December 21, 2008 § Leave a comment

A star sleeps, obituary…

Light evolves in a new shape.

Corners, torn photos, tape…
Marble waves, restless, searching…

Time, the dark waterfall,
a circle eight…
A pattern to see…
falling,
falling,
falling…

Rising
slowly,
knocking at life,
overlapping faces.

In God we trust…
The world in his palm…

I sing
falling,
falling,
falling…

Rising,
dancing
slowly backwards…
the times.

Count.

Continue, to sing…

Heaven’s
one dance,
one song…
Love.
