Valley Heart

April 20, 2009 § 2 Comments

In honor of National Poetry Month, I give my free flowing poetic thoughts and aspirations; tapping into Mother Earth [our natural and spiritual life] during troubled times [in America and across the world].

Bring your drifting thoughts, too, back into focus by walking in nature: It’s a great way to reinvigorate yourself and gain perspective.

Mother Earth sends her light and love into all of us this Earth Day and everyday. I can appreciate her better and all her benefits, as my own mother.

If you are a soul searcher, like I am, there are great places to go—which offer big answers to your questions—that can help you better understand your current situation(s), or simply give you a new sense of direction, especially when you begin (re)thinking about your purpose, your connection…

VALLEY HEART

Is there some one you know like you, just to touch?
Have you found yet a new place that you love so much-
that you won’t stop loving?

A place like someone special is not that easy to forget.
A place—a person, now is it?

I see you can’t take your eyes off-
The Valley of Fire;
I know—I cant.
It’s burning inside of me.

See a moment like this—becomes you. You-
know the moment: You are the moment.
A wonderful moment when fate takes your hand-
and makes you feel like…smiling…makes you feel, well, almost like crying…

So destiny calls and makes-
you do great things! I bet you don’t even realize them all or just how special you truly are!

And, as my day comes to an end,
I will give thanks for it all—whatever that may be…
Well, just being alive is enough-
in the setting sun!
Yes, a sweet, setting sun keeps my dreams alive:
They are peaceful dreams.

…I stand and wait and still…I wait. Your eyes are-
just amazing; They are brightly beaming.

Everyday I am-
lost in this valley of dreams;
Just you and I and-
the fire sky, a heavenly breeze,
a kiss on my face, how you come to me-
so tenderly in this beautiful light.
God, you are so beautiful.

What did you say?

I see…

Well, if you must leave…
I’ll see you someday.
I promise, my Eagle friend.
Tonight I’ll just lay my head upon a rock-
and dream until the breaking of day…a day that will seem to last forever.

But even in this night—there’s still a light:
There’s still a hope inside my heart that lets me say:
I will hold on till then-
and I will see you again.

I will see you again.
This isn’t the end
You’re my forever friend-
and I will see you ‘for sure’ again.

Good night.

Visionary

In silence, a poet is born.
A new life in the universe
Emerges
Dreaming in light.
A soul awakens
To creation, whose eyes
Reflect the unknown.

God’s Gift

December 21, 2008 § 1 Comment

Every morning, I rise to a canvas, snow-white.
A new experience awaits.
I vision a rainbow of light,
become as a little child who creates.

I am looking at art
though hands of a miracle,
to the center of my heart,
to the depths of my soul.

Taught by the Greatest Teacher,
I listen in silence…
Draw from every feature:
Perfection, Rebirth, and Innocence.

Presented a palette to paint the Prince of Peace,
I stand before the Divine’s greatest masterpiece.

Lie-in-Wait

December 11, 2008 § Leave a comment

An old-fashioned junkie
Swallowed once more-
parched on bended knee.
Shadow of recollections in his drawer-
of photographs next to a single bed.
Her rosy lips curled in disgust, the blur…
Breaths of two in one minute, fled-
Moments of mercy for her.
A nurse with emotions recalling…
She wonders alone, goddess of his lot.
Heart bleeds with sadness, bawling…
Hopes for something; knot-
in her tongue, hand on his face…
His gray-green eyes, barrier to lies,
no longer sparkled in this place.
He listened and heard, “Don’t die”.
The room rushed in, what-would-be.
Arm’s reach from a half-naked picture-
She’s feeding the hungry;
making plenty of men richer…
Stared at her the time apart, hesitantly…
Another chance to save him—code blue.
“Please just tell me…”
Speaking down a long, dark road, through-
The other side … swept into a glimpse of fate.
What else was in her power? The end-
of a love story … dare not, not to late…
to tell the man she hated then…
She did not wish for him to die.
Could not ignore his good deeds,
nor imagine love built on a lie.
Three minutes, she pleads….
Doom was at hand.
He wanted her to love him enough.
To leave him, let go of his hand…
Staying by his side was rough.
Her cherished smile and voice so sweet-
was all he ever wanted … not swallow the hurt.
Rushing in the rain … rising to shaky feet,
she dropped the rose and an angel fell, in the wet dirt…

Water Mask

December 13, 2007 § Leave a comment

“Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.” – W.H. Arden

Visions arrive and voices survive
Magical minds will never die.
In dim lit dimensions, I dive-
Days of divinity, shut-eye

Liquefy lines, light reflects
Antique hero, City of steel
Sunsets bleed, cinema connects-
The reality of my rustic reel

Raining hard, lightning’s black

Obscurity in a blue intuitive splash
Pleading with purpose, sinking back
Breathless, sparkling, orange-white flash

Follow me through a screen of leaves
Daring for dangers, serious face of Ocean
Body opens, lower part, make-believes
The Iron Gate swings in constant motion

Handle heavy, hidden in my hand

Sinking with treasures, treading thieves
On Broadway, banging my head, stand
Logic leans low, dawn of red reefs

White sound of keys, hearts lock
Zinc and copper in hair of Venus, she’ll
Wait in the womb, girls of gridlock
Rings of rows, distant dreams, surreal

Written in my eye, equations, multiply

On rainbow stain-glass, first cut, never fear
Love escapes cut-and-dry, pointless lullaby
And fills the sky with despair in hemisphere

Strange languages, pattern of the land
Grey brick buildings, flowing rhythm above
Fallen masters, wrestlers boxing on sand
I swam again from cycles of longing, love

Broken fences, empty houses, crying lambs
Shadows of the tempest, giant phony things
Beautiful bodies form holograms
Harmony kisses away the soft black rings

My irises are green, that awkward grin
Lips touch my cheeks, try to break-free
Surrender and laugh, all the children live-in
A circuit, freedom in a bright color movie

Energy disappears, losing minds, mudflow

Reflections in black and white, one race
Heavenly music glides past so slow
Dancing in costumes as refugees in space

The final girl without a name
Ego laughs, tricksters trespass, all the same
Swimming through temples, mysteries overcame
Barriers, the ascent from brothers of blame

Climbing stairs without steps, principal parts see

The pattern onstage hitting the mark of lies
Upon the making of a moment’s mystery
Bathing my eyes in cold water and slowly rise

Surrender to the surface, a silent screen star
Savage eyes rush to record so to remind
Beauty without meaning, you are
Sleeping immortality, spirituality will find

My soul below water and I anxiously ask-

Fate, will you embrace me without the mask…

Zero and Zeal, poets in motion-

Drawn to nature, love the ocean.

Taste the salt from my hand.

Melt in castles made of sand.

Skies on fire, wings of ice-

Break on high, fall like dice.

In the ocean, swept to shore-

Dead fish will dance once more.

Dance, dance, dance, ring upon ring-

A broken dance with a Fisher King-

Dance upon water; dance upon sand.

Dance to life. Feel your hand-

Through the dune, one-to-one,

If I can’t fly, then I will run.

To the rise of another place-

How the sun freely dissolved your face.

The Heart Tattoo

December 13, 2007 § 1 Comment

No longer committed to that permanent memory
In my waking head

I ran to remove my desire
Eraser, heart painted red
Painful…arduous past
I scrubbed so hard
My skin bled
From a tattoo, I used to guard
Romantic affection
And tenderness
For someone who loved me deeply
Never finished, I guess…
I ran throughout my place
Not fully using my heart
My life
Path, upperpart
Filled with fears
Anxieties
Surrounded me, came
Negative energies…

Frustration
You’re not around…
Place to purify, a shower
Remove my wool, go-around
Safety pins cling
To my boundary of a personal life
Turning inward,
I removed half the heart, half-life
My Heart Tattoo
It’s playful ways
I’m thinking…
Men have crossed the boundaries, gays
My friends
No strangers to me…
Watched me bathe in the nude
Rinse, germfree

Washing away old thoughts,
Feeling in fumes
So I release

The people dancing in smoky rooms
Filled the hallways
Opportunities to
Expand

A temporary fix, how-to…
Oh, the Baby(ness)

Different from the get-go
Coming out of the wound
Now, confused, unable to know
Silenced, the man who blew
Magic into my ear
Said, “I loved you”

Illusion is what others fear
Maybe true as I
Fill all the desires
Offers I hide…
Those looking for love hires

Are longing-
I run past the not belonging

Tender & Twisted

December 13, 2007 § Leave a comment

I wrote these lyrics on a rainy night in spring (2005) for sweet single ladies who dream passionately.

I can hear the rain trickling down
While my fingers drown
In this sacred scream,
You are here with me in this crazy dream
In my mind one on one you and I
Fly
One on one, you and me
Loosing myself to you, can’t you see?
Don’t tell me to chill…
I am living my life for the thrill…

Your sweet lips spread so wide
Breathe so heavy; let me ride
Your skin is so alive…hot to touch
It is for real? I want you so much
I can tell by your sighs…By your sighs
Feels so good…I’m ready for the highs
To scream with you…I’m free…
Do you want me?

Your taste lingers in my mouth still
Your touch burns my skin till…
You left me aching for more of you…
I find myself thinking of you… (Not true…)
It’s true…More than I ever thought I would
You have such a hold on me so damn good
I’d be willing to please you forever
I’m exploding with heartache… (Never…)
S-a-t-i-s-f-a-c-t-i-o-n, I’ll reach when
Will I be able to have you again?
You and you, even you…
I can never get enough (of you and you, even you…)
Being so in love with you and you, even you
It’s true
I’m so in love (with you and you, even you…)
That’s how you want it to be…
Single and you love without the touch of me
Without my kiss,
What the hell…I know you want this

Your sweet lips spread so wide
Breathe so heavy, let me ride
Your skin is so alive…hot to the touch
It is for real…I want you so much
I can tell by your sighs…By your sighs
Feels so good…I’m ready for the highs
Scream with you…I’m free…
Do you want me?

So sensitive…I feel fire between my dark seas
I’m falling on my knees…
Once again with you on my mind
I run my hand in a place to find
Last night you and you, even you…
Your kiss (soooo……) kind (unkind)
I hate this feeling of being alone…it’s true
All I can do is touch…
Silently wishing you would be my guy…
Be inside…I’m thinking of you
More than I every thought I would…Can’t you see…
You have a hold on me…its true… (Untrue)
I’d be willing to please you for eternity

Your sweet lips spread so wide
Breathe so heavy so alive, let me ride
Your skin is so alive…hot to the touch
It is for real…I want you so damn much
I can tell by your sighs…By your sighs
Feels so good…I’m ready for the highs
Scream with you…I’m free…
Do you want me?

Silent Screams

December 13, 2007 § 1 Comment

Prancing in water-
like a river of lions, a marvelous Empire…
I see you burning-I’m getting hotter;
It is you who I desire…
I escape
past the night,
wrapping the moonscape-
the electric light
around my curving body.
Dominate my eyes, spent skin
breath … you’re somebody
Where have you been?
Those pills by your pillow…
at the very portal of this dream…
…it’s not your peccadillo;
Drink the serene, cherished stream-
a stairway of waves into oblivion.
Quiet … the stars begin to ride…
Larger than the soul of the sun,
you and I inhale-exhale passion, open-eyed.

Seized by Forests

December 13, 2007 § Leave a comment

I’m playing darts to the sound of crickets

In a wilderness of dark faces, unfamiliar places;

I sink into midnight, urban thickets-

The storm has ceased. The moon paces…

Shoots with a bow candlesticks

Into my heart, a stranger sits with wicks. Besides-

His handful of burning matchsticks…

He waits for someone. He is patient. He hides.

To the right, another woman stands

Holding the wind, she is silent.

Sings only for a moment in distant lands

Between the present and the colors meant

For her mind; the voice behind

Her soul, dances, takes chances in

White silence, three feathers under masks, the mind

Reveal cathedrals painted in purple tin

Thrown through lots, he lets go; no heartbeat…

Melting on matchbooks, my eyes are burning bittersweet…

There are galaxies inside, shadows of fire,

Fog and crystal; Life is spreading higher…

I am seized by this angry forest, and welding it

Into the exact moment I see fit

To spell your name in candle wax made of twilight

My body is a metamorphosis in the feverish night

I kissed you only once, darker than any pleasure

You are dreaming yourself into a great measure

Of dust spinning a tale of our hunger; the superhighway’s

Threading gold and reveals beings who glow in the Milky Way…

The all seeing-eye trees and the transparent fruits spark

Into breath, into streams of art, beneath the buried bark, the dark.

I will survive pulling stars out of the earth that rise

Upward through your face, your obscure race, reflecting eternal ties…

Lonely Queen

December 13, 2007 § Leave a comment

“At every time I’ve always known that you where there, upon your throne…A lonely queen without her king…” – Lenny Kravitz

Last sign on his face…wishing you could embrace
Him this night…something isn’t right, it’s breeding.
You are hit from nowhere; your body is bare, face
Me…your heart is bleeding, your mind is feeding-

Crazy thoughts right now…the light is growing dim.
A song played so right, your lips, bite and bite…
Parting in pain, hearing pouring rain, its hymn
Skips a beat from the breast to the feet tonight.

Yesterday’s tone…crawl, stand up, moan…Call-
Sorry for lost years, thrown into frequent fears…
A war, soul falling, you are bawling, alone…All
Shot, feel nothing…saving grace of something hears

Your voice of loss…toss, season of birth at the wall-
Marks, his name…wake, blame the soldier in green.
Fast and fall…you’ve been living, loved lost it all.
Lonely queen, he is guilty; do you want to be seen?

You are loved, shoved; he holds you…hurts you above.
The king of your heart comes to you crying; break apart-
The bond on earth, so complicated, empty worth…lost love.
The chance and one last dance with a queen of a broken heart…

My City of Love :: 2

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

I have lots of love deep in my heart
But I can’t keep the fire burning without you sweetheart
Come to me here in my city of love
And we’ll sing songs in the subway unheard of

A city is just a city if you just dream it
A piano doesn’t sound afar unless you play the keys
Life is lonely if you just try to quit
And love alone is nothing but a tease

I would give anything for you to feel this…
The songs inside my heart moving for your one kiss
So here I am in my city of dreams
Waiting for your lips to touch mine, so it seems…

A city is just a city if you just dream it
A piano doesn’t sound afar unless you play the keys
Life is lonely if you just try to quit
And love alone is nothing but a tease

I’m wishing upon a star in this city of no stars
But wishes can’t come true if you don’t see a star so far
So be mine tonight under the moon which moves us above
Be mine tonight and be my city of love

I’m wishing upon a star in this city of no stars
But wishes can’t come true if you don’t see a star so far
So be mine tonight under the moon which moves us above
Be mine tonight and be my city of love
Be mine tonight and be my city, love

Heart’s Abyss

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

The sun pours with honey,

spread on a bed of rays.

Nature is moved before me

in God’s guided ways.

Let’s swim in the moon’s sea;

slide through the Milky Way…

Our hearts of a brilliant hue

lead yet another risky pursue.

Out of my soul … a spring…

My spirit knows

commitment, a covenant ring-

hides where wind forever blows.

Cover me in an eternal stream…

Hold my exploring eyes.

I feel your heart burning

in scarlet skies turning.

You speak of an awaited sunrise,

the language of my heart,

way above the earth, rhapsodize;

I sense your soul, my counterpart.

Never is there a love that dies,

a playful gift from the start…

I see our bodies drop to the ground-

Sing for me … an amazing sound.

Grapes of Italy

On a bed of grapes, we made wine.
You were my one true love, so fine-divine.
In my vineyard, grew your soul.
Squeezed from grapes-you’ll
get drunk by plump, juicy lips,
again-taking two trips
of the tongue.
My bells rung
all night long
Once, we belong
together.
Whether,
we will stay
with another or stray…
Know this-
Your love was bliss.

Dancing Devotion

“…she has met someone who will be the romance of her life.” – ‘The Phantom of the Rose’

She dreams in his senses,
Unbound by tonight-
On a journey through starlight,
She encounters a planet of differences.

She slips through space and pretenses.

The mazes of time
Float in trances, climb
Into the twilight-

Passion lies within-
A spell bound to stable eyes;
Way above the earth’s skin,
Two bodies dance on and on, vaporize.

Into the dawn,
She wakes in denial.
She barely knows him,
A secret smile…

Eternal Sleep

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

She killed herself for love, its final touch;
Perhaps, she loved the wrong man way too much.
Like Cleopatra to Julius Caesar,
She’ll never be with him spite folie à deux.
He couldn’t tell heaven from hell
Those blue skies from pain casting a spell…
The final chapter drove her insane.
His soul was not touched, blinded by vain.
By his lips-by her dreams, lying on grass-
I recall looking though some glass.
Oh, the story how she lost her head…
The Queen, sweet dreamer; her life unread by my bed…
I remember her name, just not from books;
She holds the heart of the lonely, angels and crooks.
So softly, she sings for them a Winter’s Love Song;
But, what went wrong all nightlong, summerlong, lifelong…?
Could he never see the women who admired him so…
For Beauty sake, why didn’t he just say “Hello…”?

Letter to a Flying Queen: Sylvia Plath

November 18, 2007 § Leave a comment

In Celebration of National Poetry Month: April 2007, I had written a letter to American Poet Sylvia Plath—from here to the afterlife titled “Letter to a Flying Queen”:

Dear Sylvia,

What does an average woman talk about? What does it say about me when I’m strangely fascinated with your life? You are the Queen in the mirror flying; tumbling down heaven’s staircase is your crown, before my feet. Are you speaking finally to God? What does he say about the war? I am on this empty road together with my brothers and sisters with heavyhearted fears. I am disturbed; I am writing our pain where dreams are realized and suddenly destroyed. The rest of my letters are in a place called “nowhere”, my mind. There were others, too, who shot the blood out of my head, ripped my heart out with their hands. There is no stopping pain. It flew once through your veins; it flows now through mine and the living world.

Oh, what is “Daddy” like? Is he God? Was he disturbed as you were once with the world the way it came to pass? Why didn’t He stop you (from taking your life …) from writing more? Hey, did you know you won a Pulitzer Prize? Why weren’t you honored sooner while you lived? What is it like on the other side of life? Intense? Can you ever love too much without dying?

Well, I must get out of these sleeping clothes, out of my restless dreams, into the disorder of poetic order never to make sense.

Poet to Poet,
Sonya Rose

Note: What I admire most about Sylvia she did live her life to the extreme, and had an intense passion for life.

Perfection is found
in the deep…
Moving across sound,
the Ruler, too, can’t sleep.
Walks on clouds.
This vision of rings
faces the crowds,
offer openings.
Orbiting the sun…
and no where to run.

The Journey

November 14, 2007 § Leave a comment

I looked into the skies tonight.

I see your face just shining bright.

I’ll keep you near and hold you tight

and live with your love for one more night.

The thoughts in my head, I will cherish forever.

My love for you would change not ever.

I would love to be a dove just flying free~

for the world, I’d have all to see.

To be the one just flying high,

across the long and lonesome sky,

would slowly bring a teardrop to my eye.

To see you grin, to see you smile…

for you, I’d walk the earth’s endless mile.

All the journey through life, they will come to an end,

and all my love for you, they’ll send…

Timeless Kiss

Naked souls dance.

One bleeding heart

unspoken. Chance.

Loving apart

the sound of time

overlapping.

Dream empty rhyme.

Heaven’s napping.

Stars, starving space,

step in sinc. Find

a saving place…

Fate. Two unwind,

soulmate to miss…

spoken, timeless kiss.
