My City of Love :: 1

December 2, 2007 § 2 Comments

I have lots of love deep in my heart
But I can’t keep the fire burning without you sweetheart
Come to me here in my city of love
And we’ll sing songs in the subway unheard of

A city is just a city if you just dream it
A guitar doesn’t sound afar unless you play the strings
Life is lonely if you just try to quit
And love alone is nothing but a hole with wings

I would do anything for you to feel this…
The songs inside my heart moving for your one kiss
So here I am in my city of dreams
Waiting for your lips to touch mine, so it seems…

A city is just a city if you just dream it
A guitar doesn’t sound afar unless you play the strings
Life is lonely if you just try to quit
And love alone is nothing but a hole with wings

I’m wishing upon a star in this city of no stars
But wishes can’t come true if you don’t see a star so far
So be mine tonight under the moon which moves us above
Be mine tonight and be my city of love

I’m wishing upon a star in this city of no stars
But wishes can’t come true if you don’t see a star so far
So be mine tonight under the moon which moves us above
Be mine tonight and be my city of love
Be mine tonight and be my city, love…

I have lots of love deep in my heart
But I can’t keep the fire burning without you sweetheart
Come to me here in my city of love
And we’ll sing songs in the subway unheard of

A city is just a city if you just dream it
A piano doesn’t sound afar unless you play the keys
Life is lonely if you just try to quit
And love alone is nothing but a tease

I would give anything for you to feel this…
The songs inside my heart moving for your one kiss

My Love Letter

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

“My Love Letter” was written in 2004 for one of my favorite singers/songwriters Luther Vandross and in his fight to survive from diabetes after an induced stroke (R.I.P.); in honor of my uncle, Heinz Basel from Munich, Germany, who passed away around the same time period. My uncle was a diabetes survivor for fifteen years who could hit notes (but not really like Luther, he had a day job). In honor of those suffering from diabetes or any other horrific disease, may your journey be long and may you be alright.

When I am happy,
You are there.
When I am sad,
You are there, I swear…
You are there.
When my spirit soars,
You’re right there, right there; I care.

It’s you; It’s you-
Can I make you feel?
The way you make me feel…
When I hear your voice, you heal.
The times I am alone wanting someone
To hold for just one more dance…
You get into my place without a face.
I hear “…if I could get another chance”.
I am entranced by your voice.
The way you stand, a colorful man…
There’s nothing b & w about you.
I will treasure you…I will; I can
For the rest of time,
Your songs make me remember…everything.
The highs, the lows-
Man, you sure can sing.

When I am happy,
You are there.
When I am sad,
You are there, I swear…
You are there.
When my spirit soars,
You’re right there, right there; I care…

You mean so much to all of us.
As you’re lying there, somewhere…
So, when you open your eyes,
Do not speak, don’t you dare.
May we breathe together?

And inhale million of lives, your choice.
All those who you have touched are screaming.
Let’s turn up the volume and hear your voice.
They’re counting on you.
To take away their pain-
Take time to breath, slow down.
Lean back and let the tears well up in the rain.
Are you alright?

I’m a bit sad.
There’s something very holy-
Burning in this moment, good and bad…
Love is so wonderful, it hurts.
I can’t say goodbye to holding the kiss
And prolonging the hug…
Of all the times that I miss,
Real growth is happening.

Don’t stop playing.
Don’t stop playing your songs.
There’s no voice like yours; I’m saying-
For all the songs you sing.
I’m sending this one to you,
For all the hope you bring.
I’m sending this one back to you; thank-you.

When I am happy,
You are there.
When I am sad,
You are there; I swear.
You are there.
When my spirit soars,
You’re right there, right there; I care.

There’s a sparkle in my life.
When I get to the heart of something really good,
I hope you’re surviving, somehow…
If I could give you my strong body, I would…
God is by your side; I believe.

The stars are fading because your light is so bright.
If this were my last day on earth, I would say to you…
May your journey continue tonight,

May you be alright
May you be alright
May you be alright…

My Name, Nonviolence

December 2, 2007 § 1 Comment

“Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this walked the earth in flesh and blood.” –Albert Einstein about Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi

I am not an example of perfection.
Evolving, I am coping with the situation.
I feel helpless, face my humanization.
Revenge, impatience, and anger:
Their destroyer is their creator’s mission-
Be careful of their presence.

You may feel helpless and tense-

When surrounding your home is danger.
Stay in tune, you are no stranger.
I am the seeker, the truth, behold-
I crawl through the eye of gold.
And witness my failing changer.

Violent energy is generating-

Among the masses, and I
On my pursuit to a common cry-
Am stopped by the Prince
Who is leaving his state, hating.
Unleashing his man-eating dogs…

The atmosphere radically clogs

Can you help me rinse?
A court disaster, to convince…
Events around me, I cannot…
I will light a flame to spot
Your face; please find me…since

Your internal strife must cease

Before it ceases you-
Into the religion sectors’ hue
Composing their differences, lying…
Let love release.
Erase the minds of congressmen.

Mutual jealousy, desirable power again…

To rule the world when spirits are crying
Voices are speaking to me…terrifying
What can I do? I spell disaster, for the press-
Struggling in independent access…
Can you lead a movement when you’re dying?

Requires great strength, it seems,

And resolution, so express yourself
Now in this hour of myself
Your skin-deep nature to construct
A program, “Independence of Dreams”
Do you see the centre of responsibility?

Eating up a large percentage of hostility-

Inhibit your rightful aspirations, deconstruct
You have lost; have you found? Reconstruct-
My thoughts and my words, worldview
May I excite and detoxify you?
Your struggles will never cease, destruct.

If you don’t have me in your life,

Then you will lack strength and energy
Your ideal freedom is your heart, me.
Keep the fruits of my being,
An experiment is unfolding: True-life.
So pursue honesty with all your heart…

Direct…redirect the wrong
Into my net of being strong.

Painting Eternity

December 2, 2007 § 1 Comment

“Love is something eternal; the aspect may change, but not the essence.” – Vincent van Gogh

A flower may blossom, wither
And then die without anyone
Ever seeing or knowing its
Beauty…

But the artist can look at
The flower and freeze it in
Time – Paint it onto canvas
To live a thousand lifetimes

And a thousand generations
Will look upon the flower
And see the beauty it had
To offer

A beauty that once-
Blossomed, withered,
And died a long time ago….

And maybe some will say
To their selves – I wonder what
The artist was thinking of-

As she froze a moment in
Time – and painted eternity

~A gift to me

Two lovers long

to be one

with a never-ending song.

The struggles

they need to overcome

and feelings

they share apart

emerge

into soft whispers.

Piano Boy

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

Will you dance with me?
In the morning, in the evening, in the nighttime-
Will you whisper softly?
Hold me; caress me for a lifetime…

Your eyes shine right through me
And I will try to get by
Somehow without you nearby
Try, try, and try

I’m pouring out my heart for free
See, I’m going to make it after all, I’m O.K.
I’m slowly moving
On, once again today

I’ll carry my dreams on wings
Never stop believing; but, please don’t fade away
I need to feel the touch of you all over
As I fly all day

Your eyes shine right through me
And I will try to get by
Are you truly nearby?
So tempted…let’s try, try, and try…

See, I can’t hide it
Pains from yesterday
Drift away a bit
When I talk to your feeling eyes
No troubles inside just a deep sky
My heart is so swept away
Show me the colors of you and I (you and I…you and I…)

Your eyes shine right through me
So much and I will try to get by
Please be nearby
Try, try, and try…Is it…can it be…time for you and I?
For you and I…
Something about you and I
I will try…

Kiss to Miss

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

Many times she comes to this
An empty room, a lost kiss
Tears beyond her control
She’s no longer whole

Is it so wrong, her desire
To be with one she does admire
Who some consider no good…
If she could she would,
Show him how she does feel
Why can’t they seal the deal?
Of their longing, their desire
Sleeping with one more liar
Unwilling to admit the true
Feelings parting into blue
Today their smiles aren’t much
If only he would touch
Her soul, she might see him
Again, she leaves on a whim
Travels to another side
She does not love this ride
Without romance, setbacks-
Without love, flashbacks
Nothing else she will need
She slowly will bleed and bleed
Weak and sorry for
The woman in the mirror, her
Last word
To the lonesome bird-
Fly, fly, and fly away
Just another waiting day
Where he longs to see her
I wonder what will occur…
Will he remember how to
Kiss her lips? Get rid of the rose tattoo…

Imperfect Love

December 2, 2007 § 3 Comments

Our love is a perfect love,

one that fell from the skies.

You are all that I ever wanted.

And my soul tries

to be one

with you;

yet, never do we meet

and say I do.

Heart’s Abyss

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

The sun pours with honey,

spread on a bed of rays.

Nature is moved before me

in God’s guided ways.

Let’s swim in the moon’s sea;

slide through the Milky Way…

Our hearts of a brilliant hue

lead yet another risky pursue.

Out of my soul … a spring…

My spirit knows

commitment, a covenant ring-

hides where wind forever blows.

Cover me in an eternal stream…

Hold my exploring eyes.

I feel your heart burning

in scarlet skies turning.

You speak of an awaited sunrise,

the language of my heart,

way above the earth, rhapsodize;

I sense your soul, my counterpart.

Never is there a love that dies,

a playful gift from the start…

I see our bodies drop to the ground-

Sing for me … an amazing sound.

Grapes of Italy

On a bed of grapes, we made wine.
You were my one true love, so fine-divine.
In my vineyard, grew your soul.
Squeezed from grapes-you’ll
get drunk by plump, juicy lips,
again-taking two trips
of the tongue.
My bells rung
all night long
Once, we belong
together.
Whether,
we will stay
with another or stray…
Know this-
Your love was bliss.

Dancing Devotion

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

“…she has met someone who will be the romance of her life.” – ‘The Phantom of the Rose’

She dreams in his senses,
Unbound by tonight-
On a journey through starlight,
She encounters a planet of differences.

She slips through space and pretenses.

The mazes of time
Float in trances, climb
Into the twilight-

Passion lies within-
A spell bound to stable eyes;
Way above the earth’s skin,
Two bodies dance on and on, vaporize.

Into the dawn,
She wakes in denial.
She barely knows him,
A secret smile…

Desert Thunder

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

“Desert Thunder” is a collaborative poem written by Suzann Kotchka, Katie Marion, Scott Cowie, Damien Shaw, Lillian Atkinson, and me.

“Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed.” Storm Jameson

In my life, marks the hope of much wonder.
In her presence, my heart beats of thunder.

A streak of white light, a loud crashing boom,
The strings of my heart stretch thin on the loom.

Dying in cave clutter, I meet lightning-
Her touch, overwhelmingly frightening…

Trying to focus on the canyon clay,
Wholesome creation faints from disarray.

Faith blinks in laver, wakes my sufferance.
Dust devils come quickly. Vanish. Dispense…

Cloudy glass, channels of forte-fire,
Crump from crusades, in limbo, I love her!

Her love is found by fate on arrival.
Notions encompass on my own survival.

From the depths, I must delve into my soul.
I knowingly relinquish surreal control.

When I was weak, I could never forgive.
Happiness is not forgetting to live.

Eternal Sleep

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

She killed herself for love, its final touch;
Perhaps, she loved the wrong man way too much.
Like Cleopatra to Julius Caesar,
She’ll never be with him spite folie à deux.
He couldn’t tell heaven from hell
Those blue skies from pain casting a spell…
The final chapter drove her insane.
His soul was not touched, blinded by vain.
By his lips-by her dreams, lying on grass-
I recall looking though some glass.
Oh, the story how she lost her head…
The Queen, sweet dreamer; her life unread by my bed…
I remember her name, just not from books;
She holds the heart of the lonely, angels and crooks.
So softly, she sings for them a Winter’s Love Song;
But, what went wrong all nightlong, summerlong, lifelong…?
Could he never see the women who admired him so…
For Beauty sake, why didn’t he just say “Hello…”?

Forbidden Love

December 2, 2007 § Leave a comment

“No matter how he tried he could not break free.” – Pink Floyd

Caught standing in a smoke-filled room.
A drummer gets ready for swift death.
I took one slow moving breath.
The first warhead opened its heavy perfume.
He hissed and came closer with flames.
Slowly burning, he rose under my feet.
So sensitive, loving and caring, concrete,
Reality was rumbling the floor of shames.
His hands made me speak secrets, sadden spirit.
Leaves his hand to make love under the moon-
He lies to people about what he does in every room.
He is a lord of tactics, a champ who will dispirit.
Nobody he knows grows numb from the front down…
Only I noticed changes in his rhythm, still businesslike.
The drummer likes to be liked, a leech to your psych.

For long hours in the night, I had no contact cross-town.
The mornings thereof he would slowly depart-
Those feelings of guilt, he was so slumberous sweet.
My love stroked my skin under a red satin sheet.
Dancing with hands, he played songs from the heart.
The golden triangles in my ear-
Suddenly, built a mathematical equation-
Sound the colors of love, a blind formation.
Make one from one and one clear.

The drummer shouts the invincible on top of me.
He looks in the mirror and looks great.
When it comes to eating he’d rather wait.
For he is aroused once again, glee and free.
His temperature rises and he’s feeling almost dizzy.
I felt his heart race and his heat.
His attacks of anxiety occur on a one-way street.
Swept in crystalline dust, he is far too busy.
Sadly, he is sharing nothing that’s real.
Promises he could never keep.
The consequences of his actions roll skin-deep.
In the city, he tries more bitter candy to heal.
Now, my God has turned this face to the light.
I see painted sacred symbols incised with demons faces.
In the mirror of the miraculous three Graces,
He keeps drumming in hopes to reunite.

Cutting all five fingers of his hardened hand,
A one-carat diamond fades in a ring of snow,
Sensitive skin draws pain from one big blow,
My lover lives in wonder, fantasy, and wasteland.
Who am I? I am the drum, the woman of his dreams.
He cannot see me because he can no longer sleep.
Flashes of changes, no dreams, he prays his soul to keep.
Joins the trembling teams-
Alone, I stand in the middle of one last fight.
To survive, I must wait in unsynchronized silence.
I hear one heartbeat, the dance suspense.
My love continues after his affair with Lady White.

She awoke

November 18, 2007 § 1 Comment

She awoke in silence.

All she could hear

was the sound of his heart

beat a night before last.

Everyday to her

is a dream.

Everyday is he.

He is everywhere

she goes…

even to the darkest corners,

he sits…

waiting, watching, wondering

where she goes;

Day after day,

night after night,

the chase is ending.

Cupid is bleeding.

Hearts are fading-

under Love’s arrow,

a dark flame in the psyche.

The Confessional

November 14, 2007 § Leave a comment

Tracking a miracle on the roof,
Sound of buildings, fire-proof,
Felt the sudden urge to stay-home,
She was cleaning his shaving foam
Off the sink, grabbing into her hand,
…A glimpse of his watchband
The open windows were calling.
Fear, her heart was bawling.
A sense of horror, colorless morning
Growing more desperate, mourning,
Images posted, she’s not there.
Oil refinery in her hair,
The sudden gloom became the reason…
He left her crying in every season.
Dying in a city with similar grief,
In the shadowed darkness, no relief,
Her pain was so fierce every holiday…
The time stopped on his watch today.
Her throat had swollen shut by noonday.
Escaping a hellhole, she dreamt herself away….
Ready to find the light at the end,
She kissed his lips and had to pretend
His hands touched her warm cheeks.
She’s glaringly empty, endless weeks….
She wiped her hands across her eyes.
She ran after him…and I sympathize.
Her voice whispers in the darkness.
Both of us are missing someone…I confess.

The Journey

November 14, 2007 § Leave a comment

I looked into the skies tonight.

I see your face just shining bright.

I’ll keep you near and hold you tight

and live with your love for one more night.

The thoughts in my head, I will cherish forever.

My love for you would change not ever.

I would love to be a dove just flying free~

for the world, I’d have all to see.

To be the one just flying high,

across the long and lonesome sky,

would slowly bring a teardrop to my eye.

To see you grin, to see you smile…

for you, I’d walk the earth’s endless mile.

All the journey through life, they will come to an end,

and all my love for you, they’ll send…
