City Limits

October 7, 2007 § Leave a comment

Hold back your tears;
hide behind a mask of fears.
Watch the years
grow on your face:
See yourself
in another place.
Wait another day
as empty as today.
Run that last mile-
thirsty for a long while.
Wait by the back door;
no one’s home past four.
Don’t go to see a stranger:
Knock when facing danger.
Let the rain fall on your face.
Feel the tears of a lonely place.
